Modern ICCP systems are divided into zones; each zone contains several anodes that are managed by a single power supply unit. Each zone is controlled through a dedicated reference cell that provides information on the potential of the wet surface to the control panel. Interactions occur between bordering zones on the wet hull, so use of the MARIMPRESS ICCP MultiZone system avoids undesired excess and insufficient protection.

The system constantly monitors the zones to be protected and all the data is stored in a data logger and transmitted to a control panel in the Central Control Room.

It is always advisable to perform computerised modelling with dedicated software for these systems, with an FEM (Finite Element Method) study, in order to establish the optimal position of both the anodes and the reference cells for each area of the submerged structure.
